Sometimes we ignore conviction because we think the consequences are far off in the future. In Amos, this is exactly how the elites in the nation of Israel were responding to the message of God's coming judgment. They presumed God's blessings because they were His chosen people. But God does not have to bless empty rituals and religion. God looks at the heart, and He sees yours, too.
