Baptism
Why be baptized?
Those who are baptized are following Jesus’ example and obeying His command:
Matthew 3:16-17
"And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
Matthew 28:18-20
"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
Matthew 3:16-17

Matthew 28:18-20

What is the importance of baptism?
Water baptism is a public declaration of three very important things:
• You are a follower of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:41a).
• You are beginning a changed life in Christ (Rom. 6:4).
• You are part of a new family (Gal. 3:26-27).
Is there ever a reason to be baptized again?
Your baptism should have signified you becoming a follower of Jesus, beginning a changed life, and uniting with a new family.
If your baptism did not reflect this change of life, then you should be baptized again.
If your baptism did not reflect this change of life, then you should be baptized again.
Can I be baptized at Solid Rock?
Candidates for baptism at Solid Rock will be approved by the pastoral staff. Only one who has accepted Christ as Savior will be considered for baptism. Additionally, there must be an understanding of what baptism signifies. Sharing this information is done through meeting with staff ahead of scheduling the baptism.
Church Involvement
Should I attend church regularly?
Yes! Christians are commanded to partner with a local New Testament church (Heb. 10:25).
Church attendance is key for a believer to receive exhortation. Exhortation means encouragement, caring, and those things that lift our spirits.
Today more than ever a Christian needs the fellowship of his brothers and sisters in Christ.

Should I be a member of a church?
According to the Bible, there are several key benefits to joining the membership of a church (Acts 2:42-47).
Accountability
It is much easier to walk with God when there are others watching and listening to us. It is harder to fall away from God when a friend in Jesus contacts us after missing a service or two.
Support
Having a church family to support us in times of difficulty is a blessing that is hard to overstate. This does not mean that we may quit working and live off the church, but it does mean that the church has the mandate to help when it can.
Commonality
Joining with a church body allows us to experience the joy that is found by sharing a common goal and purpose with other people. This truly allows us to function as the body of Christ. We cannot do that alone.
Evangelism
The church is the vehicle that the Lord uses to save souls and disciple them into mature followers of Christ.
While every Christian is commanded to be a soul-winner, connection to a church and its ministries allows us to take part in evangelistic endeavors (through giving and serving) in which we otherwise would not participate.

How can I be a member of Solid Rock?
At Solid Rock, we truly believe that membership in a local New Testament church is God's will for every believer. Our desire is that those who attend our services regularly will be led to join hands with us officially through membership.
If you feel like the Lord would have you become a member of our church, please contact us and let us know. Our lead pastor conducts a membership meeting with every candidate for membership. These membership meetings are for our mutual benefit.
First, they benefit you by allowing you to join with "eyes wide open." You will be able to voice questions/concerns and you will understand the expectations of members and doctrinal position of the church. Second, they benefit our current membership by ensuring new members uphold our beliefs and constitution.
