The Summer Fruit

Summer fruit is not good fruit. It is overripe, and if it can be eaten, it must be eaten quickly. God compares Israel to this fruit and calls them overripe for judgment. Have we been guilty of presuming upon God's long-suffering? Could it be said that we are overripe for His chastisement in our own lives?
